The First Battle of Bull Run, was fought on 21st July 1861, in Prince William County, Virginia, near the city of Manassas. I was the first major land battle of the American Civil War.

As the rifles spoke, and the ground erupted,
upon the soldiers at Bull Run,
every brave but anxious soldier,
could feel his time had come.

As the shrapnel ripped their bodies,
and screaming filled the air,
those lads they died in loneliness,
with no one there to care.

The tragedy of war is that,
young men are bound to die
a death upon the battlefield,
without them knowing why.

They answered to the call of arms,
by the leaders they did trust,
believing god was on their side,
young men now turned to dust.

So hold their banner high my friends,
to salute those brave young men,
they gave their life for ‘America‘
those heroes all……….amen!
